We had a nice Christmas day with the family, and unfortunately the weather has delayed the Mair Christmas yet again. When the ice/snow decide they will tame for a day or more, we will meet up to celebrate. Hopefully soon!

We did get to visit with all of Devon's family and had a very nice Christmas day. The days following were warm and nice and then cold and icy. Unfortunately, the changing weather is definately playing havoc on our immune systems. I am finally in the end of the cold, and DJ is recovering quickly behind me. However, Devon is not as lucky and has been pretty ill...lets hope that he can recover quickly in the next few days.

I have a few pictures, the first is of DJ "praying" for more toys for Christmas next year. He really is developing his milestones, he is constantly clasping his hands and putting anything he can in his mouth. He is gaining control and working on sitting in his Bumbo seat and is gaining leg muscules that he can stand briefly on his feet when supported. It is amazing how strong he is!

I like the picture of the two boys, it is amazing how much bigger Nico is, he is truly taking the older cousing role and running with it!

Merry Christmas!!

Well, it is Christmas. It is snowy and cold so we are definately in the Midwest. We are getting ready for Christmas Eve tonight and will be celebrating tomorrow with the Mau's and Butlers. We are looking forward for the two cousins, Nico and DJ, to have their first Christmas together.

The Mair Christmas will be the 26th and 27th if they can make it with the weather!

We got DJ a few more pictures with his sled for Christmas and in his snow suit.

3 months old

Its hard to believe that 3 months ago we didn't know what our little man could do to our world. In a brief quarter of a year we have learned that the world no longer revolves around us, our needs are minimal, you can function on 3 hours of sleep and that the smile of your son can bring so much joy. DJ turned 3 months on Thursday and its hard to imagine what life was ever like before him. He is really turning into quite a little man. He is quite happy, smiles often and is finally settling into a schedule of sorts and for the past few nights has slept from about 800pm to 5am. It is has been wonderful and restful.

Saturday we went up to see his Great Grandparents at Lake Cornelia. We had very nice visit and DJ charmed them with his dancing, smiling and cooing. We then headed back home, had a brief visit with Grandma Butler and today we are having his 3 month pictures taken and doing some Christmas shopping.

Hope everyone is having a great holiday season, we are truly counting our blessings this year.

I have two pictures, one of Great Grandpa Butler playing with DJ and the final of DJ's new past time, shaking his rattle. Before we know it he will be lifting weights and preparing for his sport of choice!

Santa's Little Helper

DJ had his first opportunity to meet Santa last night. He did quite well and whatever secrets they exchanged..it worked as DJ slept through the night! He slept from 830 to 500am, Mommy and Daddy work up a few times to make sure he was okay but....he was great! Busy few weeks are coming with Holidays and all and we wanted to get the chance to get a DJ and Santa picture!

Happy Holidays everyone!

It's beginning to look alot like Christmas

Last week was a great long week. DJ came down with the flu on Monday and left daycare early. We then opted to keep him out for the rest of the week with the holiday. He got a little spoiled (okay ALOT spoiled) but, it was nice to have all three of us together for 3 whole days. We got quite a bit of snow over Saturday and we took a few pictures of DJ outside on his sled. He was not quite enjoying it!

Family Time

We had a family dinner yesterday with the Mau/Butler family. It was great to see Danielle, Connor and Nico as well as Grandpa Mau and Uncle Dillon. We also got to visit with Uncle Bill, Aunt Cheryl, Jess and Cassie. It was great to share time with everyone and get some cute pictures of the family.

We got updated pictures of the two cousins, Nico and DJ.

We also have some great pictures of DJ in his Hawkeye outfit, he was pretty happy at their big win!

We finally got a great picture of DJ with his Uncle Dillon before they left for their travel back to Klemme.

Tummy Time

We have had a pretty good week-we think we have found the solution to the colic/fussiness that we were experiencing and have switched formulas with succeess. DJ has been sleeping much better and not as fussy in the mornings for his Daddy. We generally get to sleep 9pm-3am and then 330am-5am.

We have been working on Tummy time and building our neck muscles...he is a little bruiser. He definately is stronger physically and is really growing. The only problem is when he is mad...watch out his hands and fist go flying. Daddy is getting him ready early for his MMA/UFC days!

We are having family dinner this weekend with Devon's family and hope that Nico and his parents get to visit.

I love to see the cousins side by side, they are so cute!

2 month checkup

Today we had DJ's two month checkup and shots. He did pretty well, he screamed bloody murder while the shots were given but afterwards was consoled pretty easily.

He is doing really well in his growth, he is currently 11 lbs 4 ounces and 23 1/4 long. He is in the 40% for his weight and 65% for his height.

We will see how the rest of the weekend goes!

Roadtrip....to Illinois

We are just back from a weekend visit to Illinois. DJ traveled so very well, he slept almost the whole drive to Morton, IL to see his Great Grandmother Gray and then back to Princeton. He slept while we took him on his innagural trip to RIPS and then slept pretty well at Grandpa Mair's that night.

Saturday morning he visited with some new buddies, Aiden and Konnor. Attached are pictures of the the three amigos who were all born within 1 month of each other.

We were able to visit and trade babies and it was great to see the girls.

We then went and visited Great Grandma Mair and had a nice visit with her as well.

We then had our holiday dinner with Grandpa Mair and Uncle Bob. It was a great weekend of visits and time with family and friends.

Family Saturday!

It was a great day yesterday-we enjoyed the great weather and spent time together as a family.

It started out with Race for the Cure-here in Des Moines almost 25,000 people participated and I joined the Kaduce's in memory of Rebecca's mother, Linda Lou.

It was great to get out and enjoy the day for a great cause. We then joined family and friends afterwards for lunch at the Kaduces.

We then finally got the chance to get our pumpkins for Halloween and Thanksgiving, we picked out pumpkins, gourds and indian corn and will get DJ's Halloween pictures taken with the decorations. I will get those posted shortly!

I have a new picture of DJ that I just think is adorable so, I am posting that.

Daycare and Waterloo

Well it has been a quick week! We have been busy getting ready for Mommy to return to work----:( and DJ to head to daycare.

We also took a trip to Waterloo last weekend and visited with friends at a gathering Tracey and Christopher had for us. It was great to see so many friends and visit!

DJ and Christopher had to have a picture and Christopher will be a great babysitter.

We also did a mini run to Daycare today, DJ did a great job...Daddy and Mommy were a bit more emotional. I had to take the picture of his first day at daycare...it is too cute.

I weighed DJ yesterday..and we are estimating he is about 11 lbs...not to bad! He is getting bigger and changing so much daily we cannot believe it.

Busy Week!

We had a very busy week and had lots of visitors and had a great trip to North Iowa. We were able to travel around the Des Moines area and went to the park on Wednesday night and visited with the Kaduces's. DJ loved his first park playdate.

On Thursday, DJ and I visited my job and stopped by Devon's work for a vist.

Friday the visitors started! Grandpa Mau and Uncle Dillon came to visit as well as Aunt Danielle and Uncle Connor and Cousin Nico. It was great to have them here all weekend and to share time with everyone. I have lots of pictures of the two cousins and the grandparents.

On Saturday, we all watched the Iowa game and it was a good game!

Sunday, we drove to North Iowa to visit Great Grandma and Grandpa Butler. It was nice to finally introduce DJ to Great Grandpa and had the great luck to see Great Aunt Becky and Great Aunt Ed.

Lots of Pictures to be posted and more travels next week, think DJ and I are heading to Waterloo for the day!

Uncle Bob Visits....

DJ had more visitors this weekend...Uncle Bob from IL came to visit. They had a nice time on Friday night getting to know each other.

It was great to have Bob visit and come back to Iowa and see the house and us since the wedding. I have attached a picture.

Last night was a rough night....we were up ever hour, it appears that fussy and gassy DJ came to visit. Once we finally got past it this morning around 1100 am...then this afternoon has been better. It was a rough....12 hours though, with little sleep.

Looks like we will have visitors this next weekend with cousin Nico! Danielle, Conner and Nico will be coming from KC and Grandpa Mau as well as Dillon and Sara we assume as well..

Can't wait for more company!

The second picture is of DJ watching the Iowa game today with Daddy...it was a rough game and you can see DJ threw in the blanket....:D

We had a visit and dinner from the Kaduce's last week and wanted to show the new pals of Evan and DJ. Evan is giving DJ some love to start out but, I see them as rough and tumble pals in the future!

2 week checkup

We went for DJ's two week checkup on Friday. He is doing great! Weighing in at 8lbs and 4 oz and measuring 20.75 inches long. He has gained 1lb and 2ounces since we left the hospital two weeks ago. He is right on track for his development and they keep telling us what a contented and happy baby he is. And we agree!

He is really a good baby, happy to sit with us and sleep and eat. He is doing better some nights than others we love to see the 3 hour nights not the 2!

He has had lots of visitors and more to come in the next week! Great Grandma Butler, Great Aunt Maggie and Great Aunt Becky are coming in the next week or so as well as Uncle Bob is possibly coming from Illinois.

We look forward to seeing everyone and getting more rest!

Grandma visits

We forgot to include picture of Grandma visiting on Thursday night! Grandma and DJ sat together and "visited" for about an hour during which they shared some special time.

We continue to have visitors all the time and cannot be happier to have everyone so excited..we are expecting Great Aunt Becky, Great Aunt Maggie and Great Grandma Butler in the next or so...as well as more Grainger friends....busy times. But, so nice to have everyone excited to see DJ.

We got some great rest last night, DJ slept from 3-7 am straight...it was a wonderful 4 hours...on top of the normal every 2-3 we get.

I have included a picture of DJ chillin in his bouncy seat..which is a great method to take a shower for Mommy and Daddy! And the new froggy from Chris and Raissa that matches just perfectly!

Dr.'s Appointment Update

Well great news from the Dr. yesterday. We went to the Dr. on Friday for our one week appointment. DJ is doing fabulous. He is back up to above birth weight and was very good at the Dr. They were impressed that he was so healthy again and not a sign of jaundice. We do go back next Friday for our two week appointment and will get additional checks then.

We also went on our first outing-to Walmart. Not the most exciting trip but, very practical! He slept through the Dr. appointment and all through Walmart...what a champ!

He was definitely a chick magnet for Daddy not sure I am letting the two of them out by themselves! All the ladies were very interested in the Daddy with a newborn in Walmart.

We are back to home here today and maybe another outing tomorrow when Daddy is off again.

5 days home...

We are doing well, at 5 days home. We go to the Dr. on Friday, for our one week checkup and will see how DJ's doing.

We think he is doing great! Sleeping fairly well...only up about 3 times in middle of the night and we have learned to all fall back asleep after the feedings/changes and are coping well.

We have had visitors from the Grandpa's and I have attached pics of DJ with Grandpa Mau and Grandpa Mair.

We will more more this week and will try to keep everyone updated.

WE ARE HOME!!!

We arrived home yesterday at 1230 or so, and have been doing great. DJ is just perfect, doing well...eating, sleeping and creating diapers up a storm! Just like he should be-we had a pretty good night of up at 1230, 330, and then 630 am. I have been able to sleep with him after each feeding so, I am not feeling too bad.

We did make it home to see the majority of the IOWA vs Iowa State game yesterday and I have attached a picture of Daddy and DJ watching the game in the hospital.

Sadie is slowly adjusting, she has not seen me much and of course this is very disturbing but, we will make a slow introduction...baby steps.

I am hoping that DJ will begin to latch on a little better over the next few days as we have been supplementing with formula and some breast feeding.

We will try to send updated photos and information as we can, back to the pediatrician for 1 week check on Thursday.
